Mr. Charles A. Coe Jr., 79, of Woodbury died Sunday February 4th at Beacon Brook Health Center in Naugatuck. He was the husband of Betty Jane (Wilde) Coe.
Mr. Coe was born June 3, 1927 in Southbury, son of the late Charles Anson Sr. and Alberta (Bronson) Coe. He lived in Southbury and Woodbury all of his life. He graduated from Woodbury High School and was an active member of the FFA. He is an honorary Director of the Bethlehem Fair and was a 60 year Grange member. He was active in State Pomona and local Granges. He also enjoyed family, long walks in the woods, country music, books and local history.
Besides his wife of 50 years, he leaves his four children, Charles Anson Coe III and Deborah Coe both of Portland, Oregon, Ward Coe of Woodbury and Jonathon Coe of Simsbury, two grandchildren, Olivia and Ryan Coe of Simsbury, a brother Albert Coe of Woodbury, two sisters, Esther Ludorf of Southbury and Catherine Evans of Danbury, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday February 9th at 2pm at the North Congregational Church in Woodbury. There are no calling hours. Burial will be held in the spring. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St., is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mr. Coe's name to North Congregational Church Trust Fund, 11 Main St., Woodbury, CT 06798, The American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Meriden, CT 06450, or to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, William Black Medical Research Building, Columbia Presbyterian Disease Foundation, 650 West 168th St., New York, NY 10032.
