Dr. Cecilio M. Vergel de Dios died peacefully at home on October 10, 2013 at age 69 in the presence of family members. Cecil was born in Manila, Philippines on November 22, 1943. He graduated with a degree in Medicine from Far Eastern University. He went through residency training at Bronx VA Hospital, supervised by Mt. Sinai with a specialization in Psychiatry. From 1980, he worked as a psychiatrist at the Fairfield Hills Hospital until the hospital closed in 1995. He later worked at the Greater Waterbury Mental Health Clinic until his retirement in 2009. He is survived by his longtime companion, Vincent Erving, mother Leonisa, brothers and sisters, Magdalena , Erlinda, Enrique Jr., Ana Violeta, and Arnold, and in-laws, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his father, Enrique and older brother, Ceferino.

Services: A funeral mass will be offered at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 910 Main St. S, Southbury, CT 06488 on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 10: 00 a.m.

Visitation: Memorial viewing will be held at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home at 235 Main St. N, Southbury, CT on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
