Catherine Jackson Overton, age 83, of Southbury, formerly of Clough Road, Waterbury, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2013 at River Glen Healthcare Center in Southbury. She was the wife of Everitt Overton, who preceded her death in March of 1994 after 33 years of marriage.
Cathie O. was born on February 5, 1930 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, the youngest child of Andrew J. and Alma (Fitzmaurice) Jackson. Named after her father's sister, she and Aunt Katherine had a close relationship all their lives. Cathie was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous, having joined the fellowship on October 4, 1965. Father Fournier of St. Ann's RC Church was instrumental in introducing her to AA for which she was ever grateful. Many people's lives in Connecticut were changed for the better by her work in AA.
Cathie's nickname was Toffy because as a youngster she couldn't say Cathie correctly. A rebel through her school years, she got into trouble frequently and loved every minute. It's hard to imagine that this 'troublemaker'
