Catherine Murphy, beloved stepmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, at the age of 93.

Catherine devoted 25 years of her life to teaching in the New York City school system, where she was known for her warmth and dedication to her students at Thomas Edison High School in Jamaica, Queens.

She was married to the late Patrick J. Murphy, with whom she shared many loving years until his passing in 2005. Catherine is survived by her stepchildren—Sheila, Maureen, Sean, Eileen, Kevin and grandchildren- Conor, Maggie, Emma, Skyler, Mia, James, and Kaitlin- who are forever grateful for her love and support. She was also a cherished sister and aunt, whose love and gentle guidance enriched the lives of her extended family.

Catherine had a deep affection for animals, and her compassion extended to every creature she encountered.

Catherine's legacy lives on in her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to may make a donation in Catherine's name to the North Shore Animal League at www.animalleague.org.

Catherine will be interred in a private family memorial service at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Huntington, New York.
