Obituary

Southbury- Carolyn Rae Miles Starchak, 80, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022 after a courageous stay at Waterbury Hospital. She was the loving wife of William H. Starchak Jr.

Carolyn was born in Derby, CT on September 24, 1941 to her late parents Richard Harpin and Janice Claire (Tucker) Miles. She was a graduate from Seymour High School Class of 1959. Inspired by her grandmother Miles, Carolyn learned to play the piano at age 7. She also played the organ at the Church of Good Shepherd Episcopal in Shelton, from 1962-1972. A well-known Southbury resident, Carolyn worked at the South Britain Post Office and later the Southbury Post Office.

Carolyn was an enthusiastic N.Y. Yankees fan, who drove to many games taking along a family member or friend. She was a dedicated UCONN Women's Basketball fan, was fond of NASCAR races and going to Daytona, and was a regular with her kids to the Danbury Fair Race Arena on Saturday nights.

She traveled to many destinations including beloved Lake Sunapee, and always found excitement at a trip to Foxwoods Casino. Many appreciated her gift of a greeting card, or one of hundreds of Christmas cards, sometimes with an array of old stamps. Her favorite - to socialize with friends and family over a good meal.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, William H. Starchak, Jr., her son, Kevin, daughter Robin and her significant other Willi Alexander, her grandchildren Kelsey and her husband Matt, Hattie and her husband Donnie, along with great grandchildren Elijah, Noah, Brynn, London, Sailor, Donnie, and Miles. She is also survived by her sister Sharon and her husband John Lenahan, brother Rick and his wife Norma Miles, nieces Kim and Kelly and nephew, Kurt.
