Southbury- Carolyn  V. Somers, of East Flat Hill Rd. died peacefully Friday, August 6, 2021 in Waterbury Hospital. Carolyn was born October 28, 1942 at Governors Island, New York, daughter of the late Herbert and Anne (Kupker ) Quednow.

"Carole" grew up in New Jersey, graduating from Cranford High School, and working for the federal government where she met her husband of over 58 years, Stuart F. Somers.

Besides her husband Stu, Carole is survived by her daughters Jacqueline Anne Mulhall ( husband David)  of Middlebury and Cynthia Anne Somers of Denver Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher Mulhall of New Haven,  Matthew Mulhall of Ellington and Erin Somers Mulhall of Austin Texas, sister-in-laws Susan Bradbury of New Milford and Cathy Somers of Southbury, brother-in-law Randy Stejskal of Colorado and her nephews Michael Bradbury and Jason Stejskal, and her niece Michelle King.  She was predeceased by her sister, Diane Stejskal.

Carole and Stu were blessed to have a great group of Southbury friends that they shared many laughs and memories with.  Carole was active for many years as a member of the Southbury Republican Town Committee and served on the Southbury Tercentennial Committee. At the age of 50, Carole became an EMT; she was proud to be a member of the Southbury Volunteer Ambulance Association for over 20 years volunteering and serving the town she loved so dearly.

Carole  loved cats and dogs, reading, her plants, simple pleasures like chatting on the phone with a cup of coffee and spending time with her family.

Friends may visit the Southbury funeral home of Munson -Lovetere, 235 Main Street North on Thursday, August 12, 2021 from 4PM until 6 PM.  A private burial service will be held at the South  Britain Cemetery.
