SOUTHBURY ---Carolyn Clough Hamill, passed away at the age of 90 on Sunday, July 31, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury, CT. The daughter of Willis and Esther Clough, Carolyn was born on March 28, 1926, in Boston, MA. She was raised in Newton, MA. Following her graduation from Dana Hall, she attended Tufts University. During her college years, Carolyn enjoyed teaching horseback riding at a summer camp in Maine where she met her future husband, the late Chalmers Hamill. Carolyn and Chalmers married in 1948 during his years at Princeton. She worked at Education Testing Service until his graduation. They settled in Riverside, CT where they raised three children. She lived happily at Pomperaug Woods for the past 8 years. During their 50 year marriage, Carolyn and Chalmers supported their daughter's figure skating, enjoyed an active social life, and traveled throughout the world.
Carolyn is survived by her brother Dave Clough of Falmouth Foreside, ME; her three children and their spouses, Dr. Chalmers (Sandy) Hamill married to Perky Heath, of Watertown, CT; Marcia Hamill married to Bucky Blake, of Cos Cob, CT; and Dorothy Hamill married to John McColl, of Indian Wells, CA; six grandchildren (Bronwyn Hamill Roberti, Whitney Hamill, and Chalmers Morgan Hamill; Alison and Rebecca Blake; and Alexandra Forsythe), two great grandchildren (Trey and Aloise Roberti); and friend and companion John Aloise Buckley of Woodbury, CT.
