WOODBURY – Carolyn (Lynn) M. Cullen of Woodbury, beloved wife of the late James T. Cullen, died surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, in Waterbury, CT.

She was born June 10, 1938, the only child of the late John J. McKenna and Cecile (Moore) McKenna of Waterbury.

Lynn leaves a son, Scott J. Cullen, MD and his wife Elizabeth of Hingham, MA; two daughters, Lisa Cullen of Branford, CT and Julie Lake, RN of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren and several cousins.

She was a graduate of Watertown High School and Becker College in Worcester, MA and spent most of her career as a legal assistant/paralegal, eventually retiring from the Waterbury Hospital Case Management Dept. in 2010.

From an early age Lynn loved music and truly enjoyed the camaraderie of singing with a group such as (back in the day) the Waterbury Nutmeg Chapter of Sweet Adelines and, more recently, the choir at Woodbury United Methodist Church.  She was profoundly grateful for God's gift of song and was especially pleased that all of her children are "musical."

Lynn was an avid reader and bird lover who enjoyed watching UConn women's basketball and "Jeopardy", walking the beach at Cape Cod in the off season, and dogs of every description.  Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and the "sisters" she chose herself.  She will be missed by her cherished friends, including several who were lifelong and with whom she remained close.  Lynn was fiercely independent, but always happy to lend a hand wherever needed.  Her ability to see the humor in almost any situation, as well as an "attitude of gratitude" served her well all her life.

A memorial service will take place at Woodbury United Methodist Church, 5 Church Street, Woodbury on Saturday, February 8th at 11:00am.  Friends may visit with Lynn's family from 10:00am until the service begins at 11:00am and are encouraged to wear bright colors.   In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating to The Seeing Eye., Inc., P.O.
