Obituary


Carolyn Sue Bartlett, 72, of Quail Run Road , died Saturday October 15th, in her home in Woodbury after losing her battle with an aggressive cancer. She was the loving wife of Charles Bartlett, for almost 45 years. Mrs. Bartlett, known to most as Sue, was born September 15, 1939 in Buhl, Idaho , a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Margaret (McGill) Livingston. She grew up in Buhl and went on to graduate from the University of Idaho where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. After graduating she went on to work as a primary school teacher in California and then in Germany . While working for the Military Dependent School System in Germany , she met her husband. After their marriage, she raised their three daughters, and they lived in numerous locations throughout the U.S. , traveling for Charles' job with the military. They finally settled in Woodbury in August 1983, where Sue continued to use her teaching skills and eventually became the Assistant to the Town Planner. She was active in the community and a member of the Woodbury Woman's Club. She attended both the North Congregational Church and the Methodist Church . She was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling, playing piano, listening/dancing to music, walks with her dog and finding the best bargain in town. She was a loving companion, mother, sister and loyal friend.
Besides her husband, Sue is survived by three daughters, Jennifer and her husband Mark Bappe of Framingham ,MA, Heather Cronmiller of Rochester, NY, Anne and her husband Scott Fowler of Richmond, VA., 2 sisters Barbara Viehweg of Boise, ID and Nancy Hessel of Savannah, GA and seven grandchildren, whom she adored, Owen and Kate Bappe, Charles and Margaret Cronmiller, Reeves, Avery and Ella Fowler.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions should be made to the Woodbury Community Services, POBox 585 Woodbury, CT 06798, to Autism Speaks @ www.autismspeaks.org, or to a charity of your choice.

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: North Congregational Church

Services: A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 11: 30 a. m. at the North Congregational Church, 11 Main Street North in Woodbury with reception to follow.

Visitation: Friends may gather at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School Street for calling hours on Wednesday evening October 19, 2011 from 6-8 pm.
