Obituary

Burton G. Schaefer, 89 of Newtown, CT, formerly of Woodbury, CT died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015. He was the husband of Agnes (MacLennan) Schaefer who predeceased him. Mr. Schaefer was born April 4, 1925 in Rockville, CT the son of George and Gladys (Reynolds) Schaefer.

He served in the Army Air Force during World War II in the China, Burma, and India theatre of war flying supplies to the Chinese and British forces.

He was a member of the Fayette Masonic Lodge No. 69, Sphinx Shriners, China Burma India Veterans Association, Burma Star Association and the Hump Pilots Association. He was an honorary member of the Chinese Air Force, Republic of China.

Mr. Schaefer worked in various engineering positions at Hamilton Standard, RCA, Litton Industries, and retired from Pitney Bowes as Director, Central engineering Technical Operations.

He leaves two sons, Glen Vincent of Tolland, CT and Gary Vincent of Tolland, CT and a daughter Marjorie DelCarlo of St. Louis, MO; a brother Earl Schaefer of Rockville, CT and a sister Marilyn Schwebel of Point Pleasant, NJ.

There are no calling hours. The funeral services will be private. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St., P.O. Box 491, Woodbury, CT. 06798 is in charge of the arrangements.
