Obituary

Southbury- Bruce Edward Cast, age 66 passed away unexpectedly March 9, 2025. Born December 11th, 1958 in Norwalk, the son of the late Harry Cast and the late Mary Ann (Sanders) Cast. He attended Ridgefield High School class of '76 and earned his associates at Norwalk Technical college with a degree in mechanical engineering. He then worked under various contractors until starting his own business as Masterbuilt homes. He became a Lincoln log home dealer and was the first geothermal contractor in the state.

As a young adult he spent his summers working at Silver Lake Conference Center where he gained his love of carpentry while working on ETF and camp family. Through this time, he developed lifelong friendships and his commitment to UCC. Over the years he spent countless hours, involved in action weekends, work groups, mission trips as well as serving on many boards and committees at UCC Southbury and SLCC.

Bruce enjoyed time spent with his family, especially on annual trips down to the jersey shore, and always took a detour to get his Shriver's saltwater taffy on the way home. His children and grandchildren were his greatest joys, earning him the name of 'Papa'. In addition to his family, his hobbies included boating on candlewood lake and adventures with cars, trucks, motorcycles and the family RV.

While we find solace in knowing he is now reunited with those who went before him- we were not ready to say goodbye. We will miss his sense of humor, witty remarks and his willingness to always lend a helping hand.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Lisamay. His sister, Linda (Reddington) and Jeff Strang. His mother in law, Theresa Schmidt and late father in law Norman Schmidt. His children; Justin Cast, Alyssa Nielsen (Jonathan), Joshua Cleary (Jordan), Justin Cleary (Lisa), and Hannah Cleary (Mike). His grandchildren; Andrew Hornak, Jack Gaudino, Conner Cast, Luca de Dufour, Mina May Cleary, Elsie May Nielsen. His Niece and Nephew; Kim and Brian Reddington. Brother in laws Norman Schmidt Jr. and Anthony Ciminera and his son Andrew. Numerous close friends and family.
