Beverly Ann Irby Churchill passed away surrounded by family on March 23rd, 2026 at Waterbury Hospital. She was born December 1st, 1950 in San Antonio, Texas to Corrine and Harry Irby.
In her early career, Beverly was a trailblazer in the formative years of pay television. In the late 1970s, she worked for Wometco Home Theater in New York City helping to license first-run Hollywood movies at a time when subscription television was just beginning to reach major metropolitan areas. She went on to become a founding executive at Oak Media Development which operated ON TV, the largest subscription television operator in the country, where she helped bring Championship Boxing, Concerts, Broadway Shows, and Hollywood films to audiences nationwide. She later married Julian Schlossberg and together they grew Castle Hill Productions, a successful film distribution company in New York City, where she worked through the 1980s.
Though her professional accomplishments were remarkable, nothing compared to her devotion as a mother. Beverly poured her heart into raising her children, Chase and Summer, with boundless love, warmth, and encouragement. She was their greatest champion — always present, always supportive, and always the steady center of their world. Her children were, without question, the greatest joy and proudest achievement of her life.
Beverly also had a deep love of film, travel, fashion, and cooking — passions she shared generously with those around her.
Beverly is predeceased by her parents and her brothers Michael Irby and Jim Irby. She is survived by her children, Chase Churchill and Summer Churchill, her sister Nancy Lovely (David Lovely), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
