IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bettina
Drummond
April 10, 1963 – March 27, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bettina Drummond, who died on March 27, 2025, at home with her most beloved and faithful companion, Grif, by her side.
Bettina was known around the area as a respected equestrian and a well-versed enthusiast in the areas of art, philosophy, and reason. She was a frequent patron of Marty's Cafe in Washington as well as her favorite hair & nail salon where she would bring Grif. This permitted Grif to flirt with the girls and receive much-appreciated pats and treats.
Bettina was known internationally for her exceptional skills, unsurpassed grace and elegance in riding, and her dedication and passion within the equestrian world. She was a monumental figure in the preservation of the old French Classical System of training horses and riders. Her passion was to train with the respect and honor of the horse in mind, without cruelty. Training in a way for the horses to feel safe, proud, and unrestrained by their riders. Over her career, Bettina earned reverence and admiration from peers and students alike, leaving an indelible mark of achievements in the horsemanship industry.
Bettina will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but also for the kindness, humility, and generosity she showed to those fortunate enough to know her. She touched the lives of countless individuals and animals, leaving a legacy in the equestrian community.
This obituary barely touches the surface of Bettina's life accomplishments of which many may not be aware-she was a very humble, private person. Bettina is survived by her constant, steadfast four-legged friend in both life and work, Grif. The Belgian Malinois that stood by her through thick and thin. Grif will continue his life of luxury in the green pastures of Canada with a very dear friend and student of Bettina's.
Bettina is also survived by her brother Maldwin Drummond (Jupiter, FL), sister Fiona Drummond (West Palm Beach, FL), half-sister Marina Drummond (London, UK), and 2 nephews; John Cator (London, UK) and Robert Cator (Cove Neck, NY).
