Bertha Marie (Rossignol) King, 96, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023 at St. Mary's VITAS center. She was born in Fort Kent, Maine in 1926, the last surviving child of the fourteen children born to Fabian and Fabienne Rossignol. She was the wife of the late Albert King. Bertha was a private caregiver for many years; a job she excelled at given her motherly nature and caring heart. She also enjoyed playing mahjong and making donuts.
She is survived by children Robert (Linda) King of Middlebury, Deborah (Michael) Bernardi of Bethlehem, eight grandchildren: Sandra (Larry) Noel, Robert King (and his mother Helen), Thomas (Ryah) King, Joseph (Jaime) Bernardi, Michael (Christina) Bernardi, Brian (Virginia) Bernardi, Melissa (James) Fitzpatrick, Michelle (Timothy) Keefe, and 17 great grandchildren, Jennifer, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Abigayle, Alessandra, Andrew, Angelina, Olivia, Joseph, Alexis, Jeffrey, Brooke, Benjamin, Aaron, Hannah, Justin & Erinn- all of whom she loved very much. She is also survived by her half-sister Odette Carr, several nieces and nephews & her dear friend and caregiver Holly Polomski.
She was predeceased by her son Thomas King, who died at age 16.
Calling hours will be Sunday May 21, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St. Woodbury, Ct.
A funeral mass will be held at Midd- South Parish, St John of the Cross Church in Middlebury on Monday May 22, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be immediately following at Middlebury Cemetery.
