Bert Picard 91, formerly of Norwalk, passed away peacefully of cancer on Wednesday, August 25, 2011 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. Mr. Picard was born in Lowell, VT on June 19, 1920, of Remi and Marie Louise (Bonenfant) Picard. He was the husband of the late Ardella (Roy) Picard.
Bert actively participated in the Norwalk Power Squadron, past commander 1986-1987; South Norwalk Boat Club, lifetime member; Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 167, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Federal Aviation Agency, private pilot 1947. He was active in the National Guards prior to serving in the U.S. Army during WWII.
His favorite past-time was playing, working at or teaching golf. He coached a high school team in NC for 10 years and played his last game in May of this year.
Bert is survived by two brothers, Raymond of Boise ID and Romuald a missionary of Dakar Africa; and four children, Alain Picard, Therese Rotermund, Maurice Picard and Simone Renzuella; nine grand children and eleven great grand children.
Memorials: Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be donated to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3405 attention Erin Nielsen.

Services: A funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Jerome's RC Church, 23 Half Mile Road, Norwalk, CT on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 10: 00am.
