Mrs. Bernadette V. (Macelis) Smith, 78, of 3584 E. Main St., died Tuesday March 27, 2007 at St. Marys Hospital.

Mrs. Smith was born May 28, 1928 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Paul and Julia Helen (Cesnulevycin ) Macelis. She grew up in Waterbury and graduated from Waterbury Catholic High School. She retired after 8 years of service from the Bristol Company as a solderer.

Mrs. Smith has resided in Waterbury for the past 15 years, previously living Woodbury and Naugatuck. Mrs. Smith enjoyed needlepoint and was a Chinese Checker enthusiast. In her younger years, she was an avid badminton player.

She leaves a son Gary E. Smith of Woodbury and a daughter Maryann Tobin of Harwinton and a granddaughter, Isabel Tobin.

Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a sister Mary Cicero.

Services: Funeral will leave the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. on Saturday at 10: 30 to St. Teresas Church for a Mass at 11 a.m.

Visitation: Friends may call the funeral home on Friday from 2-4p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
