Washington, CT. Barbara L. Varley, 84, died peacefully at her home Monday, September 9, 2013. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Varley.
Barbara Varley was born August 7, 1929 in Torrington CT, daughter of the late Egbert Lewis and Lois Boinay. She was a graduate of New Milford High School. For many years, she could be found working in the Library of the Washington Primary School and later on, at the Shepaug Middle-High School.
She has been a resident of Washington most of her adult life, enjoying the garden club, golf club, and the lake. She was a member of the First Congregation Church of Washington. In later years, she took pride in the many hours she spent volunteering at the New Milford Hospital gift shop.
Barbara leaves behind a daughter, Melissa O'Neill of Abilene, TX; two sons, Joel Varley of VT, and Robert Benham of MI; a sister Sunny Vecchiarino of Danbury, CT; two granddaughters and two grandsons.
