Obituary

Barbara Dince Kurzrok, 81, daughter of the late O. Arthur Dince and Lillian Friedman of the Bronx NY died on December 28, 2013 from complications of end stage rheumatoid arthritis. She had been a long-time resident of Oxford, CT and subsequently Heritage Village in Southbury CT.

Barbara graduated from New York's Mount Sinai Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She briefly worked as a nurse in private medical practice before becoming school nurse at Rochambeau Middle School, and later Southbury High School and Pomperaug High School. She also taught classes in health and was "counselor" to many high school students who sought her advice and encouragement. She loved the school district and her role there. Barbara was an avid reader, knitter, craftsperson, gardener and bridge player who had genuine concern and love for her family, friends and "extended family"-a multitude of high school teachers and students.

Barbara was predeceased by her first husband of 32 years, Felix Kurzrok and her second husband of 20 years, Norman Fagerquist as well as her sister Marilyn Dince Littman. She is survived by her son Neal Kurzrok and his wife Dorothy Bulas of Bethesda MD, step-daughter Margot Kurzrok Rocklen and her husband Howard Rocklen of Woodbridge CT, step-daughter Jan Fagerquist of Riverside CA, four grandchildren: Mark Kurzrok, Adam Kurzrok, Carolyn Rocklen (and her husband Alex Budnitz), Melissa Rocklen, and one great grandson, Saul Micah Budnitz. She will be missed immensely.
