Obituary


Mrs. Barbara J. (Misko) Hunter, 55, of Middlebury, died Friday May 2, 2008 at her home after a long illness. She was born Sept 14, 1952 in Washington D.C. the daughter of Dorothea (Amico) Misko and the late George E. Misko.

Barbara was a long time Republican activist in Middlebury. She served 13 years on the Republican Town Committee and worked for multiple campaigns for Senate, Congressional, and local Republican candidates for a the Middlebury Republicans. She served on the beautification, land conservation, and charter revision committees for the town of Middlebury. She was a long time member of the Middlebury Garden Club.

Barbara was an active member of the Middlebury Congregation Church, where she married and had her child Elizabeth baptized. She was the treasurer of the Pre-School on the Green as well as a member of the bell choir, stewardship and chaired many of the church's events. She was a reading tutor at the Middlebury Elementary School for many years. Barbara was also a long time supporter and participant of the performing arts.
She performed in many local productions including productions at the Thomaston Opera House, Clock Work Repertory Theater, Newtown Little Play House Main Street Theatre group, and Woodbury Library productions.

Mrs. Hunter leaves her Husband, Robert, a daughter, Elizabeth Hunter of Middlebury, a stepson, Robert Hunter of Thurmont, MD, her mother, A. Dorothea Misko of Silver Spring, MD, two brothers, George G. Misko of Rockville, MD, and
Stephen Misko of Evans City, PA.

Funeral: Middlebury Congregational Church

Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday May 8, 2008 at 11: 00am at Middlebury Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Lake Elise Cemetery, Middlebury.

Visitation: Friends may call at The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 2 School St., on Wednesday May 7, 2008 from 6: 00 - 8: 00pm.
