Obituary

Barbara Ellen Gerner, 59, of Southbury passed away May 11, 2013 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. She was born July 11, 1953 in New Milford, CT, daughter of the late George and Guy Lee Stevens.
Ms. Gerner was a registered nurse and worked at the Family Birthing Center at St Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport for many years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Woodbury where she volunteered as a youth director. She enjoyed quilting, reading, attending bible study, and was a big fan of the New York Yankees. Most of all, she was a dedicated mother who loved spending time with her family. She was especially looking forward to the birth of her first grandson, who is expected to be born in early June.
She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey, Matthew, and Alex Gerner as well as her nephews David and Todd Stevens. She is preceded in death by her brother, David Stevens.

Funeral: St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Woodbury

Services: Funeral services to be held Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11: 00 a.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 294 Main St. South, Woodbury. Burial will be in Lower Merryall Cemetery, New Milford.

Visitation: Calling hours Wednesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St.
