Barbara J. Bouley, 80, a resident of The Hearth at Southbury and a former resident of Woodbury and of Heritage Village in Southbury, died on Sunday, December 13, 2015, after suffering from complications brought on by Parkinson's disease. She was a widow at the time of her death, having lost her husband of 41 years, Raymond J. Bouley, who died in June 2012.

After working 20 years in the publishing business, she went back to school to earn two separate master's degrees from New York University and Fordham University in occupational therapy and social work. That accomplished, she launched a new career and spent most of it working at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in New York before retiring in 1997 and moving to Heritage Village with her husband.
She was the youngest of five children of William W. and Margaret (Nolan) Heckethorn, and she was predeceased by all four of her older siblings: William R. Heckethorn, John E. Heckethorn, Mary C. Duckworth, and Anne B. Hartnett.
