IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Audrey
Walzer
October 16, 1924 – October 8, 2022
Audrey Feder Walzer, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022, one week short of her 98th birthday.
Born on October 16, 1924 in Hicksville, New York, Audrey soon moved with her family to Detroit, Michigan, where she grew up and attended Wayne State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in sociology. She met William Walzer in Detroit; they were married on September 3, 1945 and moved to Waterbury, Connecticut the following year.
Audrey was known for her unconditional kindness and empathy towards all. A homemaker and mother, she was also an active volunteer throughout her life for a variety of community organizations including Beth El Synagogue, Waterbury Hospital, The Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut, and Hadassah. She won multiple awards over the years for her community leadership.
Audrey greatly enjoyed writing, composing commemorative and humorous poetry in addition to notes and observations on community issues of the day. She was also an avid and accomplished seamstress, knitter, and bridge player, and enjoyed traveling the world with William, her husband of 59 years.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents Henrietta and Joe Feder, her sister Loucille Feder Zack, and her husband William Walzer. She is survived by her daughter Jan (David Etzel), her son Roy (Catherine Hogan), and her grandchildren Stephen (Vivien), Amy, Matthew, and Rowan. Roy and Jan would like to acknowledge the support and love Audrey received from her caregivers, who worked tirelessly to make her last months and years as vibrant and full of life as possible.
A private graveside funeral will be held in Waterbury. Friends and family can consider making donations to the Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut and Hadassah in Audrey's honor.
Family and friends are encouraged to share a memory of comfort for the family at www.munsonloveterefuneralhome.com
