Obituary


WOODBURY


Arvid Charles Sieber, M.D., age 76 of Woodbury, beloved husband of Helen Curtis Sieber, died at Waterbury Hospital on Thursday, March 25th, after a brief illness. He was born in Jersey City, NJ on December 1st, 1933, son of the late Charles Sieber and Paula (Neuberger) Sieber.

After growing up in Hendersonville, NC, he attended Mount St. Mary's College in Emmitsburg, MD and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, where he graduated from medical school in 1960. After completing his medical internship at St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, OH, he served in the Air Force in Kansas City, MO, and then started a general medical practice in his hometown of Hendersonville, NC. He later served as a corporate medical doctor at Olin Corporation in Stamford, CT, and as a staff physician in the Emergency Department at Danbury Hospital. In 1978, he went into private practice in family medicine in Ridgefield, CT, and remained there until his initial retirement in 1998. He later served as a staff physician at the Southbury Training School, where he completed his rewarding medical career in 2005.

Dr. Sieber and his family lived in Ridgefield from 1968 until 2001, at which time he and his wife moved to Woodbury, CT. He greatly cherished spending time with his large family and many friends, and also enjoyed gardening, and playing the piano and organ.
He was active at St. Teresa's Parish in Woodbury, and was recently professed into the secular Franciscan order.

Besides his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, he is survived by his seven loving children, Steven and wife Claudia of Newtown, CT, Michael and wife Colleen of North Attleboro, MA, James and wife Mary of Mendham, NJ, Christopher and wife Julie of Norwalk, CT, Elly Kohl and husband Ron of Tolland, CT, Mia of Livingston, MT, and Laurie Bates and husband Aaron of Bel Air, MD; seventeen grandchildren; two brothers, Hal Sieber of Greensboro, NC, and Peter Sieber and his wife Shirley of Chapel Hill, NC; and several nieces and nephews.






Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations in Arvid's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Dr., Wallingford, CT 06492 or Carolyn's Place, 137 Grandview Avenue, Waterbury, CT 06708-2508 or to a charity of one's choice.

Cemetery: Mt. Olivet Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 29th at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Woodbury.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 28th from 4-7 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St.
