Arthur E. Johnson, 87, of Waterbury, died Friday December 19th at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Marian Andrews Johnson. Arthur was born April 26, 1927 in Millville, MA, son of the late Sanfrid and Esther Nelson Johnson. He was a painter and paper hanger with his own company, Sanfrid Johnson and Son. Arthur was a veteran of the Army, serving in Germany during WWII. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth for over 50 years and was a member of the choir for most of that time. He loved to sing and was also a member of a Barber Shop Quartet. He was a member of the VFW Oakville Post # 7330 and enjoyed marching in the Memorial and Veterans Day parades as a member of the post color guard. He is survived by two sons, Scott Johnson of Plymouth and his fiance Tammy Rancourt and Kurt Johnson of Waterbury; three daughters, Lou Anne Johnson of MA, Claudia Massaro of Waterbury and Charlotte Johnson of Bethlehem and her fiance Daniel Morkis; 4 grandchildren, Krista Lipson, Amanda Massaro, Michael Massaro and Eric Johnson; 4 great grandchildren, Joseph Lipson, Gianna Lipson, Micaela Summa and Landon Massaro. He was predeceased by his brother, Merton Johnson. The family would like to thank everyone at St. Mary's Vitas for the warm and compassionate care, also a special thanks to his caregiver Margaret.

Services: Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 23th at 11: 00 am at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. Burial with military honors will be in Bethlehem Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday December 22th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday December 23rd from 10 AM until the time of the service.
