Obituary

Arlene D. Burk, 99, of Heritage Village in Southbury died peacefully at home January 15, 2013. She was the widow of John G. Burk. Mrs. Burk was born August 31, 1913 in Leominster, Massachusetts. As a professional pianist in the Leominster area she played with many area bands and was known as a specialist of ragtime stride piano. She and her husband moved to Milford, Connecticut and restored the 1685 Colonel Stephen Ford House where they were the proprietors of The Towne Shop.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Burk Chernock and husband Stephen of Orange and two grandchildren, Jennifer Burk Howland and husband Daniel and daughters Lindsay and Charlotte of North Attleboro, MA and Christian Chernock and son Spencer of Dallas, TX.
She was lovingly supported by her family, her neighbors at Heritage Village, niece Debi Stoll of Townsend, MA, and dear friend Peter Gayowski of Mystic.


Memorials: In celebration of her curious mind, love of travel, and passion to read, memorial contributions can be made to Southbury Public Library, 100 Poverty Road, Southbury, CT 06488.

Cemetery: Cemetery Not Applicable

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Services: A private celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Visitation: There arde no calling hours.
