Southbury - Anthony E. Sinopoli, Jr, 79, of Southbury, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Danbury Hospital. He was the husband of 37 years to Anne Marie Baresse-Sinopoli. Tony was born on May 26, 1945 in New Rochelle, NY, the son of the late Anthony E. Sinopoli and Nancy (Mandarano) Sinopoli.
Tony served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. There he amassed many entertaining stories that he shared with loved ones throughout his life. After his service, he spent many years working as an insurance agent.
After living 47 years in New York, Tony followed a dream to move West, taking residence in Las Vegas for 10 years. He loved the beauty of the desert and the livelihood of Sin City. Upon returning North and locating first to Thomaston and then Southbury, CT, Tony, and Anne would snowbird in South Carolina. They loved it there so much; they moved full-time to Myrtle Beach for 18 years. Anthony enjoyed sailing and adventures in the vacation destination, but he wanted to return to Southbury and be closer to family because that was the most important thing in his life.
Anthony was an active volunteer, spending his time at local food pantries and animal shelters. He enjoyed car restoration, sailing, biking, swimming, flying his drone, traveling across America and throughout Europe, but especially, he loved spending time with family.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife: Anne Marie, his loving children, Nancy and husband John Lippolis, Anthony and wife Michele Sinopoli, Heather and husband Thor Kirleis, and his stepchildren Paul and Marylou Baresse, Tina Damiano and Michael Baresse. He was an endearing Poppy to his grandchildren, Alexandra and husband Steven Leon, Melissa, Samantha, Matthew, Brian, Amelia, Camden and Madison, his step-grandchildren Emma, Troy, Luke, Victoria, Morgan, and Zack as well as, great-grandchildren Jordyn and Roman Leon.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024 from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 P.M. at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street N., Southbury CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Tony's name may be made to the Shriners, your local food pantry or animal shelter.
