Obituary


Dr. Anthony-Joseph "Tony" DiMaio passed away at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA from Cystic Fibrosis. He was 52.

Dr. DiMaio grew up in Westerly, RI. He received a B.S. from the University of Rhode Island, where he met his wife, Kirsten C. DiMaio, and where he was a member of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity. He received a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Delaware, and he completed his post-doctorate at the University of Minnesota. Dr. DiMaio most recently worked for Galata Chemical in Southbury, CT as a Technical Support Manager, Americas Region.

Dr. DiMaio was also active in the community. He volunteered for the Woodbury Scholarship Fund, Boy Scout Troop 54, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He is also credited with 10 technical patents in his field.

Dr. DiMaio is survived by his wife, Kirsten DiMaio; his son, Michael DiMaio; his parents, Dr. Anthony and Mary Jane DiMaio; his brother, Joseph DiMaio; his sister, Mary Jane DiMaio; and his dog, Leia. He is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel DiMaio.

Memorials: The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in honor of Tony DiMaio to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Connecticut Chapter, 101 Centerpoint Drive, Suite 107, Middletown, CT, 06457 (860-632-7300) to support research.

Funeral: North Congregational Church

Services: Funeral Services will be on Monday, January 26 at 11: 00 a.m. at North Congregational Church at 11 Main Street North, Woodbury, CT.

Visitation: Calling hours for Dr. DiMaio will be on Sunday, January 25, 2015, from 4: 00 p.m. to 8: 00 p.m. at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home at 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT.
