Obituary

Mrs. Annette B. Kerchief, 60, of Southbury died Tuesday August 25, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of Lonnie A. Kerchief, Sr. Mrs. Kerchief was born September 4, 1948 in Hartford a daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Calderella) Begey. She attended St. Patrick St. Anthony Grade School in Hartford from 1954 - 1962 and Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford from 1962 - 1966. She then attended Northwest Community College in Winsted from 1967 - 1968 and obtained her Associates degree. She continued her education at Glenville State College in Glenville, WV from 1968 - 1970 and obtained her Bachelors degree. She obtained her Masters degree in Reading Education in 1972 from UCONN in Storrs.
Annette began working at Northwestern Middle School in Winsted where she worked from 1970 - 1974 teaching 6th, 7th, 8th grade students in Reading and Math. She then worked at Newtown Middle School in Newtown from 1974 - 2004 teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students as a Reading Consultant. Her greatest loves where her children, Katie and Lonnie Jr. and her students. She also enjoyed reading books, the NY Yankees, summer vacations to York Beach, ME, 5 Caribbean cruises over the years and her Bombay cat Midnight.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her son Lonnie Kerchief Jr. of Torrington, her daughter Kathryn Rose Kerchief of Ansonia, two sisters Teresa Begey of South Windsor and Rosemary Potyra and her husband Jim of Vernon and two nephews, Brian Potyra and his wife Amanda of Vernon and Stephen Potyra and his wife Karen of Coventry.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Annette's memory to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1004, Meriden, Ct 06450 or to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, Ct 06457.

Cemetery: Wapping Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Funeral: Sacred Heart Church

Services: A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday August 31st at 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Southbury. Burial will follow in Wapping Cemetery in South Windsor.

Visitation: Friends may call at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. North, on Sunday August 30th from 3 - 6pm.
