IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anne H.
Townsend
February 8, 1930 – October 12, 2016
Anne H. Townsend, 86, of Southbury, died October 12, 2016 peacefully in her home. Mrs. Townsend was born February 8, 1930 in Bristol, Pa., daughter of the late Harold and Frances (Singley) Hunter. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Jacob 'J', brother Harold
and sister-in-law Connie. Anne graduated with a teaching degree in Home Economics from Mansfield State Teachers College now called Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where she faithfully attended and organized reunions. She taught for many years in the Bristol Township Schools and remained lifelong friends with some of her students. After moving to Canada she made the decision to
stay home and raise her two children and devoted her life to them (from Den Mother to Cookie drives). She delighted in her children's every move and accomplishment and was there for them whenever they needed her. Being a wife and mother was her favorite career. She was devoted to family long before she adopted her two children. She and started dating by going to church events as pre-teenagers. When she was 14 years old during a Christmas celebration ripped a dollar bill in half and said they will put it together when they got married, which they did 7 years later. She had a great sense of humor and stayed strong with her opinions. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, clock meets, flea markets, and antique stores. She knew all about antiques from her readings, and was thrilled to get an undervalued object as she was very thrifty. She loved bargains. Her cup was always half full, even after the airplane accident which paralyzed her but nothing could keep her fighting spirit down. She faithfully attended her church,
and lived a Christian life helping others whenever possible. She leaves behind her children, Wendy Vaillancourt and her son Nathan who she absolutely
adored, Jay (Laura) and his children, Ryan, Katie and Colin. She also leaves her cousin Betty Anne who was more like a sister and her husband Tuck Craven of Florida, her sister-in-law JaneTownsend of New Jersey and many nephews and nieces. She was blessed to have so many caring friends particularly her best friend Marianne Fulco of Kentucky as they would spend countless hours laughing and talking on the phone daily. She also valued her dear friends Joe and Eileen Somok, Linda Long, Steve Suriani and family, Val and Sue Grobnagger, Jason Scozzafava, and Joshua Burke.
If it wasn't for Linda Connor and her love and devotion over the many years to Anne, she would not have been able to come home after suffering a stroke. Linda will always be in the family's heart. Thanks also go to her husband Tim and their children. Words of appreciation also go out
to Danbury Regional Hospice, Danbury Nurses Registry, and Always Best Care of Western CT.
In addition, we would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers and Wendy's friends who always
volunteered when anything was needed. Anne was very grateful to everyone.
