Obituary

ANNE E. HAMANNN

Anne E. Hamann died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the age of 83, after a long struggle with illness. Born on October 1, 1931 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Sylvia and Carl Eicke. Anne was the first in her family to graduate from college and received a degree in sociology from the University of Bridgeport in 1953. 'Annie' was married to the late Richard A.
Hamann, with whom she celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary in 2005. A beloved wife,
mother, grandmother, and friend, Anne's generous, compassionate, and loving spirit touched the
lives of all those who knew her. In addition to raising five children, she also worked throughout
her life in a number of careers as a social worker, a title searcher, realtor, and an instructor at
UCONN at Storrs and West Conn. Anne also founded Sing, Inc. for Newtown High School's
Choral Department. Anne adored the fine and performing arts, loved to paint and work with
pottery, collect antiques, bake and spend time at the ocean. Now reunited with her late
daughter, Kathleen Hamann, she will be dearly missed by her surviving four children, Richard C.
Hamann of Danbury, CT; Laura E. Bentivoglio of Southbury, CT; Charmaine Hamann of
Gaithersburg, MD, and Allicyn B. Hackett, of Tiverton, RI. Anne is also survived by her five
grandchildren: Marissa, Joseph, Sean, Matthew and Nicolas.
The family would like to thank Lisa Krauss of Growing Options and Masonic Care of Newtown
and their Hospice Team for their support and care of Anne Hamann.
