July 26, 1922 – July 11, 2013
Anna Kulchuk, age 90, died early Thursday morning, July 11, 2013 at Danbury Hospital.
She was born in New York in 1922 to Peter and Anna Kulchuk. Anna became a resident
at Southbury Training School as a young adult. She continued to live and work at the
school and in her cottage under the attentive care and guidance of staff. STS became
her home for many years. Anna prided herself in her independence right into her 91st year and also was proud to
earn her own money while helping at the school. She was a quiet and observant
member of her community. Her passing will be felt by her family, staff and ladies in the
cottage. Anna is pre-deceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Alexander and Sophie Kulchuk,
formerly of Old Greenwich, Connecticut. She is survived by her niece and nephew,
Marcia Wessels of Westminster, Vermont and Gregory Kulchuk of Enfield , Connecticut.
A time to remember Anna will be celebrated privately by the family. She will be buried
near other members of her family in Stamford, Connecticut at Fairfield Memorial Park. A
Memorial Service at the school will be planned for a later date.
