Mrs. Anna W. Fiermonte, resident of the Watertown Convalarium and formerly of Watertown Avenue, Waterbury, died December 26,2011 at Vitas Hospice, Waterbury. Her 94th birthday was just two days earlier on Christmas Eve. She is predeceased by her husband, Daniel Fiermonte, her daughter Judith O'Rourke, her sister Emma Morrison and her three brothers Michael, John and Serge (Sam) Werenko. She is survived by her daughter, Jann-Marie Culhane of St. Augustine, Florida and her sister Mary Rasmussen of Waterbury, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews and their children, including her niece Lois Rasmussen, whose frequent visits with Anna lighted up her life, especially in the last two years, as they shared family memories.
Mrs. Fiermonte was born December 24, 1917, the daughter of the late Dimitri and Helen (Petrasavege) Werenko of Oakville Connecticut. Anna grew up in Oakville and graduated from Watertown High School. Upon her marriage to Daniel Fiermonte, they moved to the house on Watertown Avenue in Waterbury, where she lived until ill health required her to move to the Watertown Convalarium in September, 2009. A dedicated homemaker, she was also involved as a Troop Assistant Leader in Brownies and Girl Scouts while her daughters were growing up. Mrs. Fiermonte was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waterbury/Plymouth. In accordance with the wishes of the deceased, there will be no calling hours or memorial service.
