Ann Rita (Carolan) Pronovost-Buckley passed away peacefully April 18, 2025 in the presence of her family after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 85.
She was born August 10, 1939 in Waterbury, CT to John J. Carolan and Rita Dorothea Flaherty. She attended Catholic High School in Waterbury, Amhurst College and later earned a Master's degree in Education. She married her high school sweetheart, Henry Pronovost and together had three boys, Paul, Peter and John. She loved raising her children as well as her extended family as an elementary school teacher at Kingsbury School in Waterbury, where she had taught for decades. After the premature death of her husband, she eventually relocated to Chatham, Massachusetts where she enjoyed many happy years in the company of her cousins, tending her garden, volunteering for the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and Holy Redeemer Parish. After many years she found love again and had a brief marriage to Mr. Paul Buckley.
She is predeceased by her brother Atty Peter J. Carolan, a nephew Kevin J. Carolan, her first husband Henry J. Pronovost and her second husband Paul Buckley.
She is survived by her sons Paul H. Pronovost MD and his wife Mary, Peter J. Pronovost MD and his wife Marlene, John S. Pronovost and his wife Kristin; her grandchildren Henry, Sam, Ethan, Emma, Austin and Logan Pronovost, her sister-in law Mary Ellen D'Angelo, nephew Brian Carolan, nephew Bruce Giedra, niece Jeanne Catuccio, along with several cousins from Waterbury with whom she's had a lifetime connection, especially Rosemary Grady, John Crane, Brian (Jay) Delaney, Mary (Sis) George.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Watermark of East Hill, Southbury for the many years of loving care provided.
Visitation will take place Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School St. Woodbury, CT 06798. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 146 Main St. S. Woodbury, CT at 11:00am. Burial will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Waterbury, CT.
