Obituary

Ann Jordan Laeuchli of Southbury died Thursday, September 25, 2014. Mrs. Laeuchli was born and raised in Fayetteville, Ark., where her father was founder and dean of the Graduate School of the University of Arkansas. Following her graduation there, she took an M.A. at Columbia and soon married a Swiss theologian. The couple moved to Switzerland, where they raised two children. The family returned to the U.S., where her husband taught at Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern and at Temple University in Philadelphia. Mrs. Laeuchli received her library degree at Drexel University in Philadelphia and a law degree at Temple, where she then served as associate law librarian until she left to become the associate law librarian at Yale. Her work of 20 years, a bibliographical catalog of William Blackstone which she began while at Yale, had just been published and she had received copies on the weekend before her death. The work was completed for the 250th celebration of the 1765 anniversary publication of the first volume of Blackstone's epic work. She was active in the Southbury community, serving as a volunteer at the Southbury Public Library. She served the Heritage Village Library as president and held other offices in the village. She was also active in the Southbury chapter of PEO and with various quilting groups. She leaves her daughter, Catherine, of Berlin, Germany, and her son, Samuel, of Arivaca, Ariz.
