Ann Joan Ferguson of Oxford, Connecticut, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 19, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 17, 1930, she was the daughter of Thomas and Anna (Beno) Cholek and grew up on the city’s Eastside steeped in the tradition of her Slovak heritage, graduating from Warren G. Harding High School in 1948. For 47 years she was the proud wife of retired Bridgeport Police Detective Francis J. Ferguson until Ferg’s passing in 1996. Ann worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as a lead person in the section tasked with the assembly of aircraft electrical harnesses and the strength of her character, humor and strong work ethic were on constant display. Her retirement years were spent caring for the grandchildren she cherished and traveling both at home and abroad as a member of the Sikorsky Friendship Club.

Ann was predeceased by her sister Mary and bothers Joseph and John. She is survived by son James and wife Cheryl of Hebron, Connecticut, son Robert and wife Janet of Wells, Maine, son David and partner Rosangela Ward of Branford, Connecticut, daughter-in-law Maryann Ferguson of Waterbury, Connecticut, grandson Sean Ferguson of Waterbury, Connecticut, granddaughter Kristen Ferguson of Branford, Connecticut, grandson Bryan Ferguson of Boston, Massachusetts as well as favorite canine granddog Cooper.

The entire family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to neighbors Rich and Barb, David, Sandy, and Pam, along with the amazing hospice workers from VITAS Healthcare who provided such amazing care for her. In addition, we like to recognize Nicola, Netilda, Joy, and Johnell from A Peace of Mind who were so very instrumental in helping her realize her goal of finishing her life’s journey within the comforting surroundings of her own home. A special thanks to Tabitha Baczek LPN, who was the angel who looked over Ann during the last year or so of her life and provided compassionate care and love that words could never describe sufficiently.
