IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ann M.
Drake
June 6, 1934 – June 8, 2012
"loved everyone, judged no one"
Mrs. Ann (McGuire) Drake (Apple Annie), 78, of Woodland Road, died Friday June 8th at her home. Ann Drake was a stage three cancer survivor and died of complications from Parkinson's. A blue bird came to her window, gave her a sign, and guided her on her way home. She was the loving wife of Floyd Bruce Drake.
Mrs. Drake was born June 6, 1934 in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Army Lt. Col. Matthew and Alice (Southworth) McGuire. She resided in Stratford most of her life before moving to Bethlehem over 20 years ago. She had worked as a barmaid at Jakes in Milford, and had waitressed for many years. Mrs. Drake had also helped out with her granddaughter's business; All About You Home Care Agency, answering phones and performing various other tasks. In her younger days, she was a ballet dancer. She enjoyed designing houses and was known to take those in need into her own home. She loved all animals, especially horses, and had worked at various horse farms throughout the area, including her daughter's farm, "Another Farm" in Woodbury.
The family of Mrs. Drake would like to extend their gratitude to the direct care givers, Liz, Amanda, Brenda, Kelly and Susan and the entire team from All About You Home Care Agency, and to Donna from Affinity Hospice for the expert care and compassion they provided throughout this journey.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Sue Peterson of Oxford a granddaughter, Yvonne and her husband Richard Gamelin, and three great grandchildren, Ricky, Andre, and Aiva, all of Roxbury.
