Dr. Andrew Martin Gibson, beloved husband, father and son, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Woodbury, Connecticut on March 14th 2013. Dr. Gibson was the son of the late Arthur Gibson and Anita Gibson of Manhattan, New York. He leaves behind his wife of 27 years Linda (Lankau) Gibson and his cherished children, Alexander, Zachary, Gabrielle and Georgia. Andrew, affectionately known as Andy, graduated from Teaneck High School in 1966. While in high school he played on the Teaneck Boys Soccer team, winning the state tournament his senior year and scoring the winning goal. After high school, he attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1969. While at Penn, Andy played on the men's soccer team. He was chosen as captain and selected to be an All American. His Penn teammates continue this friendship with memorable reunions. His journey into medicine began in Brussels, Belgium in 1972. Attending the University of Brussels Medical School (VUB). he successfully graduated in 1978 while completing all classes in a foreign language. His experience living and traveling abroad was one of the many highlights of his life. Upon returning to the states, Dr. Gibson completed his residency in medicine at St Vincent's Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut and a residency and fellowship in cardiac anesthesia at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1986 Dr. Gibson joined the Department of Anesthesia at Danbury Hospital. During the past 27 years, Dr. Gibson was the first one to arrive and never took a sick day. The patients and his colleagues adored his sense of humor, sharp wit and his uncanny ability to find the perfect joke for any occasion. His dedication and work ethic were unparalleled. He loved his co-workers and they loved him. Nothing was more important to Andy then the love of his family. From the Woodbury soccer fields to the shores of Brandy Pond in Naples, Maine, to the many golf courses and the deck of his home, Andy's days were filled with the love and laughter of his extended family and friends.
Andy also leaves behind his aunt, cousins, sisters-in law, brothers -in law, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Andy will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
