Obituary

Alice Harvey Boissevain, 82, of Seymour, entered into eternal rest on February 10, 2015 in her home with family by her side. Ms. Boissevain was born in St. Albans City, VT to the late Julia Robertson Harvey Peters and Archibald Ernest Harvey on October 28, 1932.
Alice attended Bellows Free Academy (VT) and went on to earn her nursing degree with St. Joseph's School of Nursing (Bronx, NY). While she always considered herself a native Vermonter, she settled in the Seymour-Oxford area and raised three children. Survivors include her brother, Carl Peters (Manzanita, OR), two sons, Mark Boissevain and his wife Kate McGuire of Bend, OR and Dana Boissevain and his wife Stephanie Sneve-Boissevain of Sequim, WA, and daughter Andrea Boissevain and her husband Sam Fox of Fairfield, CT. She also leaves behind her cherished granddaughters Brandy Lee Shirey (Vancouver, WA), Emma Fox (Bangor, ME) and Sarah Fox (Burlington, VT), Sophia Boissevain and grandson Eric Boissevain, great grandson Tavyn Shirey as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, especially Laura Murphy and Trisha Murphy.
After a career in real estate with her sister Ruth Murphy, Alice worked for many years as a nurse at Wellspring, the psychotherapeutic and educational center in Bethlehem, CT. A true night owl, she worked the night shift for nearly 20 years with the adolescent population. She was loved and admired by both staff and residents there for her candor and her cakes. Alice was well known for the fabulous costumes that she sewed herself, including her famous interpretation of the grunge and heavy metal band 'Alice in Chains'.
She loved to travel and would regale her grandchildren with stories of riding a camel in Morocco, dining in former castles in Spain, bringing back samples of dead sea water. Alice enjoyed being a part of the Seymour Callahan House community. They were very welcoming of the A new kid on the block when she arrived during a week of power outages with yet another New England winter storm. She loved to play bingo and make trips to casinos with her friends. She fought the good fight against COPD. She was predeceased by her sister Ruth Murphy, and her two brothers John Harvey and Wayne Harvey.
