SOUTHBURY- Albert Chapman Norman, Jr., 93, of Southbury, died Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Danbury Hospital. He was the wife of Bernice (Berney) Norman.

Mr. Norman was born April 24, 1917 in East Orange, NJ, son of the late Albert C. and Helen (Lester) Norman, I. He has resided in Southbury for the past 11 years, previously living in Great Barrington, MA. While living in Great Barrington, he served on the Conservation Committee and took great pride in building his home there. Mr. Norman had worked for Cyanamid Company as a tax accountant and retired in 1979 after 35 years of service.

Mr. Norman was a 1935 graduate of Nyack (NY) High School and attended The Julliard School. He was a WW II US Army veteran. While in the Army, he was a conductor and musical arranger. He was a professional musician during the "Big Band" era, a member of Local 802 (New York City) of the American Federation of Musicians. In retirement, he worked on the Finance Committee at Heritage Village and continued to enjoyed music, woodworking and reading. He especially enjoyed vacationing with his family on Cape Cod.

Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves two sons, Albert C. Norman ,III and his wife Dona of Raeford, NC and David A. Norman and his wife Starr of Delmar, NY, a daughter, Helen Louise Mann of Rome, NY, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew. Mr. Norman was predeceased by a son Richard Thomas Norman and a sister Martha Louise Nall.

Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 23, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North.
