Obituary

After living a good and faithful life and a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, Agnes Patricia "Pat" Maurer of Southbury was called home to the Lord on July 19, 2022. Born June 25, 1931 to  Agnes M. (Fay) and John T. Cullen, Pat was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband of 67 years by 5 days.

She graduated from The College of Mount Saint Vincent with a Bachelor of Arts prior to graduating from Columbia University with a Master of Arts degree in 1954. She was devoted to raising her family and making the family home in White Plains, NY. She taught Mathematics in the White Plains Public School District and was an Adjunct Professor at Westchester Community College. Pat not only loved to teach math, but she also shared her talents for sewing, quilting and painting with her friends and family.  She could sew just about anything. She made many matching dresses for her girls and even a suit for her son. She was involved with "Friends of Karen" making quilts for hospitalized children. Pat also loved to cook, bake and make wine. She even sent her children out to forage for dandelions to make dandelion wine.

She was an active member of the White Plains Women's Club and served on the White Plains Zoning Board of Appeals. When Pat and Bill moved to Southbury CT in 1996 Pat quilted with the Village Squares quilting club. Along with her husband, Bill, she volunteered at Cape Canaveral, FL, Hospital.

Mostly Pat was a loving wife and mother who kept a household of eight running like a well-oiled machine.  Her love shined through in all she did.

She is survived by her 6 children: Christopher J. Maurer (Susan) of  Sherman, Mary P. Guertin (the late Armand) of Bethel, William J. Maurer (Patricia) of Southbury, Vincent DeP. Maurer (Bernadette) of Veira, FL, Margaret M. Montouri (John) of Hopewell Junction, NY, Elizabeth A. Marcoux (Timothy), Carolina Shores, NC; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Bill and Grandson David I. Guertin.

Pat will be missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for both Pat and Bill on Friday, July 22, 2022, Sacred Heart Church, Southbury, at 10 am.
