Abraham Tafler, 93, of The Watermark died in his home. Mr. Tafler is survived by his wife Claire Stambler Tafler. He was born on June 7, 1917 in New York City, son of the late Harry and Celia (Safier) Tafler. Mr. Tafler started his career as a lab assistant at the Brooklyn Technical High School, later was a science teacher in Manhattan at Junior High School 120, was an Assistant Principal in The Bronx and in Queens, and retired as an elementary school Principal in Brooklyn, after 35 years of service. Previously from Flushing, New York, Mr. Tafler and his wife moved to Southbury in 1985, where they became members of Temple B'nai Israel.

Besides his wife, Mr. Tafler is survived by two sons, David I. Tafler of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Michael Philip Tafler and his wife Kitty Macey of Oswego, New York, a sister Dorothy Meyer of Schenectady, New York, two grandchildren Keagan and Katrina, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Samuel Tafler.

Burial will be held in the Knollwood Cemetery, Queens, New York.
