Abenilde "Abby" (Martins) Coelho, a former resident of Cumberland and Narragansett, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Southbury, Connecticut.  Born in 1931 in Holyoke, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Ermalinda (Lopes) and Joao Martins.  Abby was the loving wife of the late Alberto Coelho.  Even through her dementia, she never forgot her Al.

Abby enjoyed many needlework hobbies including sewing, knitting, crochet, and cross-stitch

.  She was an excellent baker with a serious sweet tooth.  There was no greater pleasure for Abby than spending time with her family including daughters Joanne and Mariana Coelho, her grandchildren Parker and Chloe Allen as well as Lorraine Anderson who she referred to as her third daughter.  She is also survived by her sister Maria Elena Rodrigues and was predeceased by her brother Antero Martins.

Per Abby's request, a private memorial service is planned.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Abby's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
