Abby Richmond Grondona passed away at home on January 2, 2014 at the age of 82. Abby was predeceased by her parents Howard and Priscilla Richmond and her sister Cynthia Atkinson. Abby is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles Anderson Grondona, her daughter Lisa Osur of Rochester, NY and her son and daughter-in-law Victor & Beth Petroni of Marlborough, CT. Abby is lovingly remembered by her five grandchildren, Laura & Emily Osur and Nicholas, Michael & Joseph Petroni. Abby was born in Hartford, CT on December 19, 1931. She grew up in NYC, Killingworth, CT and Westport, CT where she graduated from Staples High School and then lived in Pasadena, CA and Paris, France. She finally settled in Woodbury, CT where she was the Democratic Registrar of Voters for over 30 years. Abby was a member of the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution and volunteered at the Webb House in Wethersfield in honor of her maternal Standish history. She presided over the Old Woodbury Historical Society, volunteered with the Hurd House, and played bridge and cribbage often with friends at the senior center in Woodbury. Abby will be forever held in loving memory for the nurturing she bestowed upon her family, her community, her animals and her gardens.
