IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank Jay
Farrel
October 26, 1955 – July 26, 2025
Frank Jay Farrel passed away on July 26, 2025 at his home in Southbury, Connecticut after a brief battle with cancer. Frank was born on October 26,1955 in Norwalk, Connecticut to Theresa Cavallo Hansell and Winfield Ernest Farrel. He was a loving husband to Louise Farrel, his high school sweetheart, whom he married nine years ago. A graduate of Danbury High School, Frank served in the United States Navy from 1973 to 1977 on the USS Donald B. Beary destroyer escort as a signalman. His service brought him all over the world and sharing his adventures at sea was an endless source of pride.
Frank retired as an aerospace contractor planner for Raytheon (formerly Hughes Aircraft) and started his own business "The Taping Maniac" which ultimately led him to a job with the Town of Southbury. He was extremely proud of his accomplishments and would drive through town pointing out buildings he helped restore.
Frank was well liked by everyone he met and delighted in being a prankster and making people laugh. He was generous with his time, money and any resources at his disposal. He loved his "dream" home in Southbury and was a friend to all the animals who wandered into his yard--big and small--and always made sure to set food out for them. Frank was an avid music lover, an accomplished guitar player and also mastered the violin later in life.
In addition to his wife and mother, Frank is survived by his sister, Deborah Farrel; brother, Eric Hansell and his wife, Karen Hansell; Goddaughter Sabrina Farrel Pallotti, her husband Jay Pallotti and grandniece Gia Farrel Pallotti; nephews John Hansell and Greg Hansell; his stepdaughter Cristina Neth, her husband Sophanara Neth and their three children Casper, Loretta and Quinton; his family-in-law John, Frederick, Paul, Thomas and Holly Sweeney, many aunts and cousins and his precious Springer Spaniel, MacKensie.
A celebration of Frank's life will be held at the Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT on Friday, August 8, 2025, 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Companion Pet Rescue and Transport at cprdogs.com.
The family would also like to thank the Southbury Police Department and ambulance services for their kindness and support.
