Stephaney Hubyk – “Ant Steph” passed away peacefully November 12, 2019 after a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Stephaney was born on August 20, 1929 to Michael and Tessie Hubyk and was the youngest of 5 children. Stephaney is survived by her sister-in-law Norma Hubyk and her niece Tess (Leonard) Assard – with whose family she spent special occasions and holidays. Tess cared for Stephaney in her illness, always assuring she was surrounded with love and laughter. Stephaney is also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews who will miss her lively spirit, sense of humor, homemade babka, perogies and blueberry pie. Stephaney is predeceased by her sister Martha Makl and brothers Michael, Ignace and Stephen, and a niece Linda.“Ant Steph” can be described as fiercely independent. She spent her career working at Bronson’sin Beacon Falls and ESP in Watertown. She amazed all who knew her with her abilities inside and outside of the home, whether she was laying down new wood floors, tending to her blueberry bushes, and mowing her lawn right up until she fell ill this year. Ant Steph loved nature and the outdoors, spending a lot of time fishing and feeding the animals, but most of all her beloved cat Robbie. A funeral service will be held at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N, Southbury on Saturday, November 23rd at 11:30 a.m. Calling hours are 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Southford Cemetery followed by a reception at Rose’s Restaurant in Oxford.
