Samphon J Reach, called Sam, was born in Battambong, Cambodia to Prak, Vang (deceased) and Reach, Pun. He was the only son and eldest child with 5 younger sisters. He was 47 years old.
They came to the United States in 1984. Sam attended Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, New York.
As a child, Sam was often sick which inspired his father to call him “Chea” meaning “Well”; he was called by families as Chea.
Over the past 19 years, Sam and Cristina have built a life, raising four children, Charisma E. Reach - their only daughter and eldest child - 18 years old, Chrisaphon B. Reach - 16 years old, Nathan D. Reach - 14 years old, and Devin S. Reach - 12 years old.
He lived in Waterbury, CT and worked for the DOT - full time. Ever the workaholic, Sam worked part time driving a limo, so he could provide better support for his beloved children.
Sometimes during his free time, Sam loved to volunteer landscaping the Buddhist temple grounds. He liked soccer, but his children were his favorite pastime.
Sam closed his eyes in eternal sleep at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut the morning of March 9, 2019 surrounded by family.
Services are as follows:
Wake: March 15,2019, 5 pm- 8 pm and Cambodian Ceremony: March 16, 2019, 9 am- 11:30 am - both at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street N, Southbury, CT 06488, followed by procession to Stone Family Crematory, 125 Bullet Hill Rd, Southbury, CT 06488; Cremation, 11:45 am - 12: 15 pm.
