Devoted Farmer, Rollin J. Hannan, 82, peacefully passed away Monday February 5th, 2018 with family by his side at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT.
Rollie was born December 3rd, 1935 in West Haven, CT. He was son of the late Harold & Maude (Ives) Hannan. He is survived by his wife Judith (Ference) Hannan, sons Rollin and his wife Tricia (Borgstrom), Christopher, Todd and his wife Jillian (Sweeney), brother-in-law Henry J. Ference, Grandson Rollin John III, Sister-in-law Jennie Ference, & many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Paul J. Ference.
Rollie graduated from West Haven High School and attend University of Connecticut, and spent 6 years in the Navel Reserves. He retired after 39 years from Southern New England Telephone. He loved working along side his family on the farm; included fixing equipment, making hay, working bees, milking cows, feeding the animals & tended many flower and vegetable gardens. Rollie volunteered countless hours with the FFA, Southbury Land Trust, Boy Scouts of America, 4H & the Connecticut Farm Bureau.
Rollie was best known as a loving husband, father & grandfather. He was often heard singing & could be found generously giving his time to his family & friends.
The family would like to say thank you to the Doctors and Nurses at St. Mary’s Hospital, The Leever Center, Smilow & Yale for their wonderful care.
Friends may call Friday February 9th 2018 from 4-8pm at Munson-Lovetere 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT. Services will be held on Saturday at St. Thomas Apostle Parish 733 Oxford Road, Oxford CT at 11:30 AM. Burial will be private in the spring.
