Obituary

Mr. Robert E. Dains, Sr. 90, of Woodbury passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bob was born November 19, 1929 in Woodbury, to the late Edgar N. Dains, Sr. and Helen (Howard) Dains. He was married to Carolyn (Wood) Dains for 65 years, until her passing in 2015.

He is survived by daughters Kathryn Chabot and husband Henry of Wells, Maine, Barbara Dains of Watertown, Patricia Morgan of Watertown, Gail Garzon of Waterbury; son Glen Dains and wife Donna of Woodbury; grandchildren Danielle Hamilton, Sharon Rosas, Cassandra Burr, Ashley Glascock, Alex Burr, Zachary Burr and Tyler Dains; and treasured great-grandchildren Michael, Izabelle, David, Lily, Wesley, Jacob and Madeline.

He was pre-deceased by his brother Edgar N. Dains, Jr. and son Robert E. Dains, Jr.

Bob served in the US Army from 1947 to 1950. He was a skilled carpenter and long-time employee of Hirsh Brothers Construction. He retired from the Regional School District #14 maintenance department after 25 years. He stayed active in retirement, traveling and building doll houses.

The funeral will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18 at The First Congregational Church, 214 Main Street South in Woodbury. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 pm Friday, January 17 at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street in Woodbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center or Woodbury Ambulance Association.
