Rheinhold Peter Passeck, 84, passed away October 17, 2017 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Judy (Hart) Passeck for 54 years. He was born in Waterbury, CT. on June 27, 1933 to the late Rheinhold Passeck and Edith (French) Passesk. Pete graduated from Naugatuck High School where he excelled in sports as a fullback on the football team.

Pete was a Navy Veteran serving on the Mine Sweeper “Tanager” for 4 years. During that period he visited many ports and countries. After his military service he attended New Haven College. He was then employed by the Bristol Company as an Engineer, specializing in hydraulics and gas pressure systems. This expertise took him too many customer locations throughout the country solving user problems.  In retirement he tended to his large garden and in the fall made his own maple syrup.

Along with his sons Jeff and Petey, he enjoyed fishing and deer hunting and was often successful. Pete learned his carpentry skills from his father, Rheinhold, who unfortunately passed away at a relatively early age. Many of these hand crafted furnishings are in their home.

Pete and his wife, Judy, traveled around the country and especially the North West. Pete and Judy were active with the Southbury Eagle Drum Corp., and with their house of worship, the church of the Epiphany in Southbury where they diligently worked on the annual Parish dinners. Pete would roast the beef on the open wood fire and during March he would switch to cooking Corned Beef for the St. Patrick’s Day dinners. During the summers Pete, Judy and the family spent time at their cottage on Bantam Lake.

Pete is survived by his wife Judy and their two sons, Peter, and wife Cathy, Jeff, and wife Chrissy, along with Grandchildren Eric and Elizabeth, nieces and nephews. Two sisters Ellen Batters (Bob) and Sandra Robinson (Don), from North Bend Washington State, and brother- in- law James Hart of Cheshire. A funeral service will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 at 11:00 A.M., at The Church of the Epiphany, 262 North Main Street, Southbury. Inurnment immediately following church services.
