Raymond Lent Obituary

It is with our deepest regret that we announce the passing of our father, Raymond William Lent age 86 on October 12, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice in the presence of his family after a long illness. Raymond was born on February 15, 1932 in Waterbury to Raymond F. Lent and Eleanor Brennan. He was the life companion of 27 years Bernice Jandrok of Middlebury.

Raymond served in the army during the Korean War and was stationed in Korea and Alaska. He also served as an MP at Fort Kilmer, New York. He did a machinist/electrical apprenticeship at Farrel Foundry in Waterbury and was employed as the electrical supervisor for the State of Connecticut at Fairfield Hills and Southbury Training School for over 30 years from which he retired in 1999.. Raymond enjoyed collecting old memorabilia which included early issue and classic magazines and postcards. He also had an interest in lighthouses, he loved growing his Morning Glories and sunflowers, feeding his beloved crows and most of all his cats. Raymond loved to spend time with his grandchildren, and his little buddy Richie, reading his almanac, watching the History channel and vacation trips to Walt Disney World with his Middlebury family.  and Chianti.

He is survived by his sons Dana and his wife Patricia of Waterbury, David and his wife Kathy of Watertown, his daughters Valerie Sheldon and her husband Robert of Wolcott and Rachel Young of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tannya (Devin) Poulter of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Matthew (Katey Miles) Lent of Waterbury, George and Gregory Young of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and Holly Hunt of Watertown amd by 7 great grandchildren, Noah, Koen and Michah Poulter, Audric, Tayen and Ryker Lent and Farrah Hunt. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Ermini of Waterbury and nieces Linda (Leo) Brites and Christine (Robert) Cole and their daughter Sarah Cole and Bernice's daughter Victoria Rebecca Thomas and her son Richie Raoul Raymond DeVilliers, with whom he shared his home. Raymond was predeceased by his parents and his great granddaughter Caidyn Poulter.

There will be a graveside service with full Military Honors will be held on Friday October 26, 2018 at 12 noon at New Milford Center Cemetery, 6 Poplar St., New Milford, CT. There are no calling hours. Munson Lovetere Funeral Home assisted the family.
